Growing education
The growing education management in Germany is reflected in the figures of the ZiviZ-Surveys 2017 just released. Second place, the "silver medal", goes to all those involved in education. With its expertise as well as with the network of kindergartens and school associations, the foundation foundation was able to contribute significantly to the fact that this young field of action for civil society involvement has become visible.

With the ZiviZ Survey 2017 "Understanding diversity. The ZIViZ branch of the Stifterverband is the first to provide representative historical data on the development of organizations in civil society in Germany. More than 6,300 associations, foundations, cooperatives and non-profit corporations participated in the survey. There have also been a number of substantive research questions on the commitment to education, to the sponsoring associations as well as to the integration of people with an immigration background and people with cursed driving. A comprehensive report is planned for 2018.

"Thanks to their outstanding position, the sponsoring associations are also the focus of the study, which is a great pleasure for us," says the summary of Katja Hintze, the chairman of the board of the Foundation for Education. "The people involved have every reason to be proud of themselves!"

Civil society grows - ZiviZ Survey 2017
Some important findings of the study in the field of education:

Education is a young field of action and, with 18%, the second largest behind the sports field. There are rather small organizations, most of which were founded in the mid-1990s. More than a third of the clubs were able to increase membership numbers in 2012. Until now, little attention has been paid to civil society research, since educational issues are historically regarded as a matter for the state. In recent years, however, an opening has been observed, which in the education sector also leaves vacancies for other actors (for further information, see page 15 of the study).
Supporting associations play a major role in the commitment to education. Their number has risen significantly in recent years. Every second educational organization founded, for example, since the 1980s, e.g. At schools and day care centers is a support association. The activities of these associations go far beyond collecting money for certain projects and institutions. 47% of the sponsoring associations also consider themselves as representatives of interests and 12% as impulses for social change. It is possible that, in contrast to the traditional clubs, support associations are more suited to the modern lifestyle with limited time resources. Membership also allows short-term, project-related engagement when there is no time for regular activities (for details, see pages 26, 27 of the study).
The study shows that civil society is growing. There are now more non-profit organizations than in 2012. Citizenship is the mainstay of non-profit organizations, according to the publication. However, a diminishing social anchoring of parties within a party democracy could not be compensated for by the growth of civil society structures.
